The charm of the Middle Ages will come to life once again in Besalú as summer comes to an end. During the days of September 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, the medieval town will host a new edition of the Besalú Medieval festival. This captivating event will offer a rich array of activities and attractions that will engage people of all ages. The festivities will kick off on Friday, September 1st. The program for the day will feature two main activities: the opening of the fair at Prado de Sant Pere and the Liberty Square at 8:00 PM, and the emblematic 'Atrapados' activity, which will be held at Casa Cornellà.
However, the highlight of the event will be the weekend. On Saturday, September 2nd, attendees can immerse themselves in a world of street processions, musical performances, belly dance displays, diverse workshops such as dressing up as knights, guided tours, and honor tournaments at Bernat Tellaferro. The majority of these exciting activities will take place in key locations such as Liberty Square, the historic center, or the imposing Sant Vicenç church.
On Sunday, visitors can continue to enjoy musical performances and relive many of the activities that took place on Saturday. They can also experience medieval-themed spaces and witness the presence of the Italian Flag Bearers in Liberty Square. In addition to all these events, on both days, the Besalú Medieval festival will feature a medieval market at Prado de Sant Pere, the Caravana de Rucs in the area near the Subirós mill, bread-making workshops also at Molino Subirós, and the charming Taverna del Seny at the Cloisters Square. This festival promises a unique experience for anyone who wishes to embark on an exciting journey through time.
